Holledau instead of China: The Nepata Group has brought part of its production back home and is now manufacturing equipment for the advertising industry at its Wolnzach site. The Nepata Group employs 35 people and operates in the fields of mechanical engineering and online retail.

The celebration to mark the start of production was attended not only by the workforce but also by long-standing friends of the company. The first ‘made in Germany’ products from the Secabo brand are now available – such as the newly developed transfer press ‘The Beast’. Thanks to innovative heating technology, it can be used to apply lettering or designs to T-shirts, jerseys or workwear whilst consuming less energy. Previously, the company had had its hardware manufactured by partner firms at their plants in the Far East.

At a celebration held in the middle of the production hall, attended by staff, families and long-standing associates – including district council candidates Andreas Herschmann and Kerstin Schnapp, as well as KUS board member Johannes Hofner – co-owner and managing director Bernhard Schmidt outlined the reasons behind the ‘Back to Bavaria’ move: better quality and greater control over manufacturing processes on the one hand, and value creation in the truest sense of the word for the company and its local community on the other. “And just imagine if a global pandemic were to disrupt supply chains …”, said Schmidt, outlining an all-too-real scenario. The equipment is sold on every continent, in 80 countries worldwide.
The Nepata Group in Wolnzach employs 35 people. Under the Secabo brand name, it offers equipment for the signage industry, textile finishing and label production. The specialist machinery manufacturer Nepata GmbH manufactures film-processing machines in Wolnzach. The group also includes “YOW!”, Europe’s largest online shop for accessories and consumables for advertising technology and textile finishing.
